Major General Abdullah Khairy , was an Engineer at the Egyptian Armed
Forces until late 2014. He is Chairman and Managing Director of Nasr
General Contracting Company (NGCC) since February 201 5. In his
interview with FUZED, Khairy sheds light on the special unique role played
by NGCC ( Hassdn   Allam) since its establishment in construction field of in
Egypt, in addition to the Company’s participation in carrying out several
vital and important projects in Egypt and many Arab countries.
Q: Could you tell us about Nasr General Contracting Company (NGCC)?
A: NGCC was established in 1936, and since then it has distinguished
history of major projects implementation with national priority in Egypt.
The Company has witnessed several changes since its establishment; as it
has been affected by the changes of economic policies prevailing at certain
periods. Finally, NGCC has become a joint stock company in mid 1990s
within the framework of economic reform program to enter the free
markets and in terms of privatization process adopted by the State.
The National Company for Construction and Development, a State-owned
holding company, has become the sole owner of NGCC shares. As of 1/1
2/1996, new management members were appointed to undertake the new
phase’s responsibilities, when the Company has started immediately to
make large-scale reform and restructuring based upon developed bases
paying attention to getting rid of obstacles and difficulties to make the
Company be ranked in the proper position.
